HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2007 ACHIEVING SUCCESS IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS SEMINARS

The first Achieving Success in the Application Process Program (ASAP) was held this July in conjunction with CLEO's Attitude is Essential (AIE) Seminar. The three-day ASAP seminar was held in Atlanta on July 13-15 at the Atlanta Airport Hilton Hotel, and in Los Angeles on July 27-29, 2007 at the Renaissance Montura Hotel. A total of 182 students attended both seminars.

A huge success was due in part to the caliber of presenters that conducted the various workshops. The seminar presenters were deans, law school admissions people, law school professors, pre-law advisors, as well as LSAC personnel who conducted the following workshops: Mock Admissions Committee, How to Select a Law School, Financial Management, The "Pre-application" Process, Strategies on Legal Thinking, the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), and The Perils and Pitfalls of Law School. ASAP students also participated in a Mini Law School Forum.

Lynda Cevallos, Esq.– CLEO’s Pre-law Coordinator gives the students bound for law school an orientation of ASAP, as well as of other pre-law programs that CLEO offers.

As part of the Mini Law School Forum, ASAP students had the opportunity to obtain information about various law schools and visit law school admissions personnel.

Maryam Ahranjani - Associate Director of the Program on Law and Government at American University Washington College of Law (WCL) and law professor engages students in a discussion of understanding the requirements of a competitive law school application as part of the “Mock Admissions Committee” workshop.

Very enthused and motivated ASAP students take a quick break for a "glamour shot".
