At long last, the 40TH ANNIVERSARY of CLEO is here!
(1968 - 2008)

OUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

As an organization, we are eagerly anticipating this historic milestone. It is an opportunity to take CLEO to never-before-seen levels, especially with respect to expanded programmatic offerings and increased financial wherewithal to help even more deserving students realize their dream of becoming an attorney.

Therefore, All contributions (minus expenses) received from our planned events are being allocated for our recently established CLEO Legacy Justice Fund, an endowment fund that is going to enable us to dramatically "ramp up" our programmatic offerings and marketing/PR efforts, while simultaneously leaving us with more scholarship money for qualifying students in need of assistance.

THE CELEBRATION

To help honor this truly momentous occasion, and to ensure that the "celebration" is within reach of as many of CLEO's supportive alumni, students and friends as possible, we will be hosting several receptions around the country. Each reception will serve as a tribute to CLEO's enduring legacy and mission of "diversifying the legal profession."

Events will be hosted in the following regions during 2008: Midwest Region (Chicago, IL - Thursday, June 5) Midwest Region ( Detroit, MI - Thursday, June 26) West/Northwest Region (San Francisco, CA - Wednesday, July 23) ABA Annual Meeting Minority Male Symposium - August Mid-Atlantic Region (Washington, DC - Wednesday, September 10) Northeastern Region (New York, NY - Thursday, October 2) Southwest Region (Houston, TX - November) Southeast Region (Atlanta, GA - December)

More information regarding our celebration plans (dates, venues, sponsors, honorees, etc.) is forthcoming and will be disseminated both electronically via email, on our website and through the mail.

To ensure that things go "smoothly," we hired JD Associates, Inc. (JDA) of Washington, DC as our 40th Anniversary event coordinator. JDA is a nationwide event planning company with more than 20 years of experience.

Company President and founder, James (JD) Day, said that, "It is a sincere honor for JDA to have been chosen by an organization with a legacy as rich and 'deeply-rooted' as CLEO's to help coordinate the logistics for their highly-anticipated 40th Anniversary Celebration. We feel very privileged to be just a small part of history."

To kick things off, on Friday, February 8, in conjunction with the American Bar Association's Mid-Year Meeting, we hosted our 40th Anniversary Celebration "Kick-Off" Reception.
